Sundyne Pumps Support COVID 19 Vaccine Efforts

ANSIMAG Pumps Specified for Use in Pharmaceutical-Grade Freeze Drier Applications Have a Lengthy Track Record of Reliability

Arvada, Colorado, March 16, 2021 – Sundyne, a global leader in the design and manufacture of mission critical pumps and compressors, announced that its ANSIMAG pumps have been widely deployed in pharmaceutical-grade freeze drier applications used by several companies for vaccines, including COVID-19 vaccines.

Freeze drier applications play a critical role in the storage and transportation of vaccines.  Pharmaceutical freeze drying is a standard process used to stabilize vaccines and other biologicals, and it’s also used to increase shelf life.  Pumps are used to deliver various cooling mediums to lower product temperatures below freezing, and high-pressure vacuum technology extracts water, to preserve pharmaceutical products for storage and transport.

For many years, Sundyne’s sealless ANSIMAG pumps have played an important role in pharmaceutical-grade freeze drier applications, due to the following differentiators:

  1. Reliability – ANSIMAG’s parts are molded ETFE components that are specifically designed to handle a wide range of chemicals and solvents with temperatures as low as -20 degrees Fahrenheit (-30 degrees Celsius) without issue.
  2. Durability – ANSIMAG’s fully encapsulated Magnetic Drive hermetically seals the inner magnets to isolate them from the process fluid and maintain unprecedented magnet integrity. A Kevlar-fiber reinforced vinyl ester shell protects the inside of the pump, and a secondary stainless steel layer provides additional durability.
  3. Simple Maintenance – with no seals and no seal support systems, ANSIMAG pumps offer much longer MTBM intervals, which significantly reduces maintenance. Routine maintenance can be performed without the need for special tools or training.
  4. Energy Efficiency – ANSIMAG pumps are more energy-efficient than mechanically sealed pumps. Features like CFR-ETFE lined rear casings minimize heat generation through zero hysteresis losses during operation, which enables smaller motors to be specified without sacrificing performance.

“For years, ANSIMAG pumps have played a key role in pharmaceutical-grade freeze drier applications for vaccines, and today, these applications are more important than ever in the fight against COVID-19,” said Sundyne’s Chief Executive Officer Mark Sefcik.  “We’re honored to support the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies.  We’re doing everything we can to ensure that we can produce enough ANSIMAG pumps as our customers develop and distribute these critical vaccines.”
