Flue Gas Desulphurization

Flue gas desulfurization (FGD) is a technology used for removing sulfur dioxide (SO2) from the exhaust flue gases of Fossil fuel power plants burning coal or oil to produce steam for the turbines that drive electric generators.

As a result of stringent environmental protection regulations regarding SO2 emissions that have been enacted in a great many countries, SO2 is now being removed from flue gases by a variety of methods.
